Garnet is a January Stone. It is popularly known as a deep red gemstone or red garnet used for jewelry making. But there are many garnet species and several colors such as red, yellow, orange, brown, black, pink colorless and green. There are six garnet species namely uvarovite, grossular, andradite, pyrope, spessartine and almandine. The precious red garnet belongs to the Almandine species.

I wasn’t really aware that garnet have several colors because I always see red garnet but doing some research I found out that there are indeed many colors of garnet and have seen a few around the Interent. It is really amazing to see a green garnet for the first time after all the years of looking at my red garnet ring. Having said that I still believe that the precious red garnet is the most beautiful garnet of all.
